Sunday 'Club Rides'

Every Sunday morning throughout the year except when there is a special event or Morning Time Trial, we meet at 8.00am for the weekly club ride with a stop for elevenses at a cafe.

Sportives are defined as "a long-distance road cycling event in which a large number of cyclists ride a marked route. With distances from 30 to over 100 miles and often fully supported there is an option for everyone to enjoy"

Time Trials

Time trialling is the simplest of competitive formats: a race against the clock. With riders starting a minute apart, it's known as the 'race of truth' because there's nowhere to hide, no one to draft behind; just you, the bike and the thumping of your heart. Oh, and a clock ticking...

Sunday Club Rides - 22nd January

9am from the Pink Pub. The standard BRCC Sunday format and route to Stansted with a stop at Tangmere to meet anyone joining us there. Thank you to Nicky Mengham for taking the lead this week.
Club ride format will be observed, so no-one left behind, mechanical assistance given if required and a Relaxed/Steady Sunday morning pace.

All welcome, weather forecast is dry for a welcome change with little wind, so why not join us?

Although assistance will be given with any mechanical issues, please bring a basic repair kit with you including a spare tube, pump and tyre levers. If you're not sure, have a chat with any of the regular members while you're out with us to see what they would recommend you include.

Sunday Training Ride
Starting from the at PP 9am. Heading out towards Butser via Lavant & South Harting. Sensible pace, regroup after the climbs. Option to stop at Stanstead for a coffee. Weather looking ok so hope to see as many as possible.Thank you Paul for taking the lead this week.

Sunday 'Sportive' Ride
A new ride for the club, starting this week. Leaving from the at PP 9am. Mark will be riding a longer (50M) hillier route, easy pace, no cafe stop on route. Hoping this fills a "gap" between usual club ride and Pauls faster paced training ride. Ideal "sportive" training! Anyone wanting to "tag" along most welcome

Roy Fairchild

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Roy Fairchild has passed away. He was a long standing member of the club holding the position of Club Chairman and Vice President for many years. His contribution to the clubs history was huge and he held many club records and time trial trophies.

The funeral will take place at Chichester Crematorium on Wednesday, 25th January at 11.a.m.

Established in 1936

The club has a long and rich history in the local area. We cater for all standards of cycling, from beginner to veteran.

Whether you just want to get more from your cycling in a safe and friendly environment. Explore some of the wonderful local countryside with other likeminded people who will look out for each other and encourage you to do more whilst keeping a realistic pace and achievable goals.

Perhaps you want to develop more advanced cycling activities such as longer sportives riding or to enter the competitive Time Trial and Road Racing scene.

Whatever your ability is now and whatever your aim is for the future, if it's cycling related, then BRCC will always offer a warm welcome and try to help you to achieve what you want in a friendly and supportive way. Of course, cake and coffee during that journey is optional!

See our 'Club Rides' page for more details on our weekly organised rides.

Monday Night is Conditioning Night!

We have started a winter conditioning session at Barnham Village Hall, to be run for October/November (maybe longer).

The session will start at 8.30 and run for an hour with the emphasis on off-bike training. There will be a 10 minute warm up, 40 mins intensive activities (planks, crunches, jumps etc) followed by 10 mins of warm down.

The idea is that after a Sunday Training ride this is a recovery/cross training session which augments the Turbo Sessions on Thursday evenings. The session is free for BRCC members or £2.50 for non members. The only equipment you will need is non-marking trainers!

Thursday Night is Turbo Night!

Thursday Evening Turbo Torture Returns!! Yes, its that time of the year again when the nights draw in, the shorts turn to tights and Christmas starts to loom.

Now you can safely let the hairs grow back on your legs, stop apologising for how dirty your bike is because it will now always be dirty and that nagging summer cold that prevented a PB will quite legitimately become winter flu.

So, put all your ailments aside, dust off the turbo, roll out the sweat mat and trip on down to Eastergate Hall.

The usual format - gates open at 6.30, all in and ready to start by 7.00, wind down and finish by 8.00.

This hour of fun is offered free to any member of BRCC and charged at only £2.50 for non-members
